Learn horse riding
If you are a lover of horses, almost nothing is more thrilling than seeing a healthy, well groomed filly or stallion galloping freely across a field, head tossing, obviously enjoying the experience. To get to the level where you can ride, trust and control a fine animal with a strong will and big personality requires correct training from the start.
I write from experience! A work colleague persuaded me into the saddle with 'Hey - fancy coming riding with me - it's great fun!' and when we reached the stables pointed to a benign looking horse - Mack - saying 'That's yours!' Within minutes I was on his back with a borrowed riding hat falling over my face - totally crazy - I had never ridden before!
Mack could get away with absolutely anything with me in his saddle - and knew it! He would walk, trot or canter as he saw fit! My only role was to stay on board! He would stop whenever he fancied and munch grass. Returning from the moors he would stand beside the village shop until the owner came out with his ice-cream (that I had to pay for!) He didn't like the colour red so I had to be careful not to take him past a mail van or old style telephone kiosk, as he would buck and rear - luckily never chucking me off! Apart from this he was an old dear with an amazing character - but I would have enjoyed riding so much more had I known how to handle him properly!
Learning to ride a horse and bonding with it is a profound and unforgettable experience! Take a look here at what is on offer to get you doing that safely and enjoyably - for a GREAT holiday!
