Reflexology
This is an ancient practice apparently used by the Chinese and also the Egyptians some 4000 years ago!
How does it work? There are reflex points on our feet representing each organ and muscle of our body. Stimulating these reflexes can help specific problems and restore and maintain the body's natural balance.
I have benefited from this treatment on many occasions - sometimes finding certain areas of my feet slightly uncomfortable during the process. Apparently these tender reflexes do not necessarily correspond to internal 'disturbances' but instead can sometimes indicate areas of high energy.
However, I never fail to be amazed when the therapist asks me 'Do you have a pain in your stomach' or 'Does your left knee hurt' or 'Did you used to have problems swallowing' - or whatever - because my answer is ALWAYS 'Yes' and it has never been pre-discussed!
After treatments, I also find that, for an hour or so, I am in and out of the loo several times! I have never seen anything specific written about this but something during reflexology triggers fluid loss in my system.
Reflexology is described as a safe, effective, non-invasive way to achieve better general health and I can agree with that! Overall - I feel a great sense of 'clear-out' relaxation and 'peace' after this therapy!
What is Reflexology mainly used to treat? Stress Digestive disorders Headaches and migraine Sleep problems Gynaecological problems To relieve sciatica or other back, shoulder and neck pains Assists with joint flexibility
Benefits of Reflexology Improved sleep patterns Better circulation Stress reduction Stronger immune system Pain relief Increased energy levels Promotes general well-being and relaxation
